KOTLI

A Small but bustling town 22 kms from Mandi (H.P).NH 70 goes through it.My own village(karihar , khalanoo) is further 12 kms from KOTLI.There are two very holy places here.

1.Janitri (Jalpa)Temple- It is a very beautiful temple situated at top of janitri dhar. The panoramic view from top is amazing. From up there you can also see kamlagarh fort.Janitri is also connected by road.A link road from lagdhar ,some 13 KMs from Kotli, goes right up to the temple. There is also a rest house up there.Just below the temple there are two huge statues of lord shiva and hanuman.

2. Mahan dev Temple- This temple is devoted to a sage.People from far of places come here and have great belief in mahan dev.Mahan dev is also connected by road.A fair is also held here.It is right in the middle of an ancient dense forest.

Scenic Manali

It started snowing as we were 10 kms from manali. It was getting dark.Even then seeing snow falling on windows of our car was amazing.Being from shimla(another hill station),i didn't expected any thing different to see at manali. But to my pleasent surprise,it was a totally different experience. At shimla you feel kind of on top.Snow capped mountains are seen very far.You see low lying hills near you.
But at manali you are surrounded by high mountains all around you.Kullu valley abruptly ends here by high mountains, other side to which there is lahul spiti.ROHTANG PASS is 50 kms from manali but remins closed throughout year because of heavy snowfall. It opens only in summer, and is the gateway to LAHUL SPITI .

Just 14 kms away is solang nala favourite tourist spot, covered by snow. There are skiing and para gliding facilities there. When Rohtang is closed tourist come here to see snow.I enjoyed my time there.I wanted to visit Rohtang but unfortunately it was closed.Roads were open upto kothi

Not to miss is that magnificent HADIMBA TEMPLE in thick and tall deodar forest just 2 kms from manali and also VASHIST(hot springs).
